EP11 - Tribute to Phil Cohran

This month’s show is a tribute to the immortal Kelan Phil Cohran — Chicago pioneer, astronomer, thinker, founding member of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM), multi-instrumentalist, former member of Sun Ra’s Arkestra, and inventor of the frankiphone (predating the kalimba) — whose words in conversation with Carlos Niño in 2012 inspired this set of music. Excerpts of the interview are sprinkled throughout, but the entire thing is well worth your time (link below). We hope the knowledge and sounds within inspire deeper contemplation and understanding of our time and place in the universe.

– Earl B.
